John R. Irvin, Jr., 78, passed away September 17, 2011 in his home amongst his family.
He was born August 26, 1933, the son of John R. and Zella Irvin. He graduated from Lemoyne (PA) High School in 1954. He then served in the US Air Force from 1954 until 1975. John worked for U.S. Air for 20 years following his discharge. He was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Brownsburg, IN. John was a founder of the Hendricks County Honor Guard and a member of VFW Post 6128.
John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louise; his children, Theresa Painter, Lucy Hitz, Mike Irvin, Becky Irvin, David Irvin, Debi Davidson; seventeen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four siblings, Peggy Moon, Gene Irvin, Joyce Irvin, and Terry Irvin.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Patrick Irvin; and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Brownsburg, IN. Friends and family may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the church. Burial will follow the service at Brownsburg Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the V.F.W. of Brownsburg or Hendricks County Honor Guard.
